Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina Monday reaffirmed her own and her government's strong commitment to continue the trend of peace and prosperity in the coming years like the first year of the present democratic government, reports UNB.
She made the pledge while inaugurating the state-run cell-phone company Teletalk's network in the upazilas of three hill districts by making a call from her office to the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
Briefing reporters at the PM's Office (PMO), her Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad said that the Prime Minister talked to Telecommunications Minister Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju using the Teletalk network.
During the telephonic talk, Sheikh Hasina said that her government had been successful in implementing the most important election pledges including that of reducing the prices of essentials.
"Only in one sector - killing and looting - we could not be successful like the BNP- Jamaat government as we are for people's peace, not for looting them like the four-party alliance," she was quoted as saying.
The PM alleged that the previous BNP-Jamaat government destroyed country's democracy and ruined the nation through limitless corruption and killing of thousands of progressive and pro-liberation people.
"Now as the people have brought us to power through their spontaneous votes, we've taken it as a great responsibility to work for the people and to serve the nation. We're not anti-people like BNP and Jamaat. We don't kill people like the four-party alliance, we protect people's lives and properties," she added.
