PM seeks ROK investment in power, ICT sectors

Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday sought South Korean investment and cooperation in generating power and establishing ICT training centres in Bangladesh, reports UNB.
She said this when newly appointed South Korean Ambassador in Bangladesh Hu Kang-il met her at her office.
PM's press secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.
He said the PM told the envoy that her government emphasises developing ICT sector in the country and it would be helpful if South Korea extends its cooperation in this regard.
She also invited more South Korean investment in power sector.
Hu Kang-il highly appreciated the booming economy of Bangladesh saying that it was very much appreciable that the country has been able to continue its over six per cent GDP growth. "This is a huge achievement," he was quoted as saying.
The South Korean Ambassador mentioned that his country is ready to cooperate with Bangladesh in infrastructural development and energy sector.
"More Korean investors will come to Bangladesh to invest as the country has a very bright future," he said.
About the Rohingya issue, he said South Korea supported the UN resolution on the Rohingya issue.
"We want the safe return of the Rohingyas to their homeland," he said mentioning that South Korea has already donated USD 5 million for the Rohingya refugees.
