Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called Thursday for more effective role of private organisations, individuals, national and internal agencies and media along with the government to prevent child labour, reports BSS.

"The present government is pledge-bound to protect rights of children," she said in a message on the eve of the World Day Against Child Labour 2015.

The theme of the day this year is 'No to child labour. Yes to quality education.'

The Prime Minister appreciated the theme as time-befitting and said Bangladesh has already ratified the UN charter on child rights, the ILO convention on prevention and elimination of hazardous child labour.

The government has identified 38 jobs hazardous for children and published their list, she said and added that the process is at the final stage to formulate a policy on domestic helps to protect children engaged in household activities.

The government has also taken initiatives to formulate 'National Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy' with the assistance of Save the Children, the Prime Minister said.
