Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina requested Wednesday Chevron to supply gas from Bibiana Natural Gas Field Expansion and Capacity Building Project to the national grid from September this year, reports BSS.

The Prime Minister made the request when Senior Vice President of Upstream of Chevron Jay Johnson paid a courtesy call on her at her office.

After the meeting, PM's Press Secretary AKM Shamim Chowdhury briefed reporters.

He said three power plants having capacity of 1,117 megawatt of electricity would be run by the gas of the Bibiana project in phases.

Of the three power plants, he said, one would go into production this year.

The Chevron senior vice-president congratulated the Prime Minister on her assumption of the office for the second consecutive term.
