KHULNA, Dec 28 (BSS): Bangla Academy Literary Award-winner poet and writer Abu Bakar Siddique on Thursday died of old-age complications while undergoing treatment at Khulna City Medical College Hospital.
He was 91.
He left behind one son and five daughters. His daughter Bidisha Ershad was the wife of late president Hussain Muhammad Ershad.
Eminent poet and writer Abu Bakr Siddique had been suffering from various old age complications for a long time.
He was also fiction writer, rhymer, novelist, short story writer and critic.
He was born on August 19, 1934 at his grandfather's residence in Gotapara village of Bagerhat district.
Abu Bakar Siddique received the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1988.
He passed the Secondary School Certificate from Bagerhat Secondary Government High School in 1952, Higher Secondary from Bagerhat Government P C College in 1954.
