Poet Nirmalendu has successful bypass surgery

Eminent poet Nirmalendu Goon underwent a bypass surgery at a city hospital on Monday, report agencies.
Doctors at Labaid Cardiac Hospital conducted the nearly three-hour successful operation that ended at 3:20pm, Saifur Rahman Lenin, assistant general manager at the hospital, told UNB over phone.
Earlier Nirmalendu Goon was admitted to the hospital on Sunday night with severe chest pain.
He was taken to the hospital around 7pm after he complained of a chest pain.
Later, a medical board, led by cardiologist Dr Boren Chakraborty, was formed for his treatment.
Another report adds: On behalf of Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina, her Special Assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil visited LabAid Hospital Monday to see ailing poet.
