Poet Shamsur Rahman\\\'s 8th death anniv today

The eighth death anniversary of country's renowned poet Shamsur Rahman will be observed today (Sunday), reports BSS.

Different socio-cultural organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes to recall the poet's immense contribution to Bangla literature.

Shamsur Rahman was born on October 23 in 1929 at Mahuttuli in the capital and breathed his last on August 17, 2006.

He also took part in various socio-cultural movements and played a vital role in critical moments of the nation.
