Police accused in murder case

NARSINGDI, Nov 1 (UNB): Four police officers of Narsingdi model thana and two others were accused in a murder case filed Thursday.
Chief judicial magistrate Ataur Rahman admitted the case and ordered the district police authority for investigation.
Morshed Rana, a transport worker, was brought to the thana Sunday evening suspecting his involvement in the theft of a motorbike. He was allegedly beaten to death and the body sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital the same night.
His brother Iqbal Hossain filed the case accusing OC S Alam, sub-inspectors Matiur Rahman, Ali Akbar and Alamgir Hossain and drug peddler Altaf Hossain and his wife Fatema Akter of the killing.
Of them, Matiur and Akbar were suspended Wednesday in the wake of angry demonstrations in the town. The deputy commissioner ordered judicial inquiry into the death of Morshed.
