Police arrest 1,726 persons in 24 hours

Police have arrested a total of 1,726 individuals during raids across the country over the last 24 hours, from 6:00 am Thursday to 6:00 am Friday.

A H M Sahadat Hossain, AIG (Media and Public Relations) at Police Headquarters, said of the total arrestees, 1,185 were wanted accused, while the rest 527 were arrested on different charges.

Two foreign-made pistols, one locally-made pipe-gun, four rounds of cartridges, four knives, one axe, and four machetes were also recovered during the raids. Legal action was taken against the arrestees.
