Police arrest one thief with stolen money in city

Police arrested a person, named Md Kawser Ahmed (22), for his alleged involvement in stealing a hefty amount of money from a businessman's residence at Banani in the capital.

Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman disclosed it to the media.

He said a police team nabbed Kawser through a raid at Manikganj bus-stand on Friday night. Stolen money amounting to Tk 24,84,500, one motorcycle, and two mobile phone sets were also recovered from his possession.

The DMP official said an incident of theft happened at the residence of businessman Mustazirul Shovon Islam in the capital's Banani area on September 9.

In the next morning, he saw an almirah at his house was unlocked and the thief circle took away about Tk 3.0 million from it. He filed a case with Banani Police Station on September 11.

Later, Banani Police arrested Kawser by using modern technology. He confessed his involvement in stealing the money.
