Police arrest two muggers

Police arrested two muggers from Mirpur 11 bus stand area in the capital during a drive early on Sunday.

An official at the Pallabi Police Station told the FE that the arrestees, identified as Md Shuvo alias Solaiman, and Md Rubel (32), are professional hijackers.

"The muggers snatched a smartphone from Md Badrudozza in front of Islami Pharma at 6:30 pm on December 20, last year," the official said.

He said that police arrested the duo applying modern technology following a case filed by Mr Badrudozza.

"The arrestees have admitted their involvement in the mobile-snatching incident."

The police official further said that legal measures were being taken against them.

Meanwhile, the traffic department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Saturday filed 1,975 cases for violation of traffic rules.

They also dumped 55 vehicles and took away another 58 to a dumping ground to keep them there for a certain period.
