Police arrest two SSC students over gun attack on cops in Chittagong

Police have arrested two SSC examinees over a gun attack on a police checkpoint in Chittagong.

The two were detained during an operation in the city's Muradpur area on Friday, Chittagong Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (North) Abdul Waris said, reports bdnews24.com.

One of the detainees is a student at Kazem Ali High School, while the other is a student at Nasirabad Boys High School.

Three people have been detained in connection with the incident. A young man named Md Hakim was arrested immediately after the shooting.

Pachlaish Police Station SI Nurul Islam filed a case against 10 suspects over the attack. Three have been arrested in connection with the case, Waris said.

Passengers from a motorcycle opened fire at the police checkpoint on Gate No. 2 of the Pachlaish Police Station at 4pm on Friday.

At the time police said the perpetrators, young men between 15 and 20 years of age riding motorcycles, were carrying pistols for 'muggings' and had panicked over the possibility of a search at the checkpoint.

Police Assistant Deputy Inspector Abdul Malek was wounded in the attack and is receiving treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
