Police to work for people\\\'s welfare: New IGP

The newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque said Wednesday police forces will work for welfare of the people and ensure their security by eliminating militancy, terrorism and other criminal activities, report agencies.

Soon after taking the charge, the police chief vowed to make the police force more people oriented and friendly by eradicating all sorts of irregularities and ensuring engagement of the commoners in the police activities.
Mr Hoque expressed his future plan at a briefing at the Police Headquarters Conference room.
"We'll start our work emphasizing four tasks -- public interest, public safety, public discipline and public health," he said.
