Communications Minister Obaidul Quader Saturday said they were looking forward to an end to the political instability in the country so that development works in the communications sector could be accelerated, reports UNB.
"We've fallen behind because of the political instability. Hope, there'll be stability in near future and the work will regain the momentum," he said while inspecting the progress of upgradation work on Joydebpur-Mymensingh highway.
The Minister also noted that he will continue his uncompromising fight against corruption in the communications sector.
Besides, he added, integrated steps will be taken to prevent accidents and traffic congestions both on highways and in cities.
About the upgradation of the Joydebpur-Mymensingh highway to a four-lane one, Mr Quader said 20 per cent of the work has already completed while the rest will complete by 2015.
"We've also ordered quick completion of the four-lane upgradation on Dhaka-Chittagong highway," he said.
