Poor response from aspirants in N-dists

Like Dhaka division, the registration for women overseas jobseekers in Rajshahi and Rangpur also failed to attract the expected level of response.
Only 350 women in Rajshahi and 230 in Rangpur go themselves registered until Monday, the last day of registration for those areas. Around 1,000 candidates were enlisted in Dhaka.
Officials blamed the lower salary structures for Saudi-bound female workers and media reports on security aspects which might have discouraged the candidates.
Following signing of a deal with Saudi Arabia to send domestic helps and also a good demand for the same in Hong Kong, the government took the step to enlist women job seekers, they said.
They also said the demand for domestic helps is very high in Saudi Arabia. So government needs a rich database with a notable number of women aspirants.
According to agreement with Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia will take 12 categories of workers in its housekeeping sector. At first it will hire housemaids at the wage of Saudi Riyal 800.
On the other hand, the registration for Chittagong and Sylhet divisions will begin today (March 17) which will continue until March 23. The schedule for Khulna and Barisal divisions is March 24 to 28.
Enrolment is taking place at the union, city and municipality digital centres and district manpower offices from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm every day.
About 40,000 women foreign job seekers were enlisted under government database in 2013. Of them 12,288 were from Dhaka division.       arafat_ara@hotmail.com
