Pre-registration for 2027 Hajj opens

The Ministry of Religious Affairs in Bangladesh has launched pre-registration for the 2027 Hajj with a mandatory provision of providing bank account numbers of the intending Hajj pilgrims.
The pre-registration process has started in the current month (July 2026) and will continue until September 2026.
"The government has made it mandatory providing bank accounts of the Hajj pilgrims aiming to ensure transparency and smooth Hajj management as well," Dr Md Ayatul Islam, additional secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), told the FE on Thursday.
He said that introducing the system (providing bank account) is a part of the ongoing Hajj management modernisaiton efforts taken by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
"The compulsory submission of bank account number for all pilgrims will ensure secure and orderly financial transactions," he said.
"The system will also ensure transparency and make the process easier and hassle free," he added.
Pre-registration is the first step for all Bangladeshis intending to perform Hajj, according Hajj-1 wing of the MoRA.
Dr Md Ayatul Islam said that as per the ministry's decision, applicants must provide a national identity card, a Bangladeshi passport or birth certificate, a passport-sized photograph, a mobile phone number and a bank account number.
Members of the same family may use a single bank account, he said.
He further said that the religious affairs ministry also asked pilgrims who completed pre-registration earlier without submitting bank account details to provide the information during registration.
According to the MoRA, after the pre-registration process, the next step will be final registration which the intending Hajj pilgrims will complete by paying fees of their respective Hajj packages.
After the registration, giving biometric information, health check-ups and vaccination, visa process, basic training to the Hajj pilgrims and preparing for departing to Saudi Arabai for Hajj pilgrims will come.
As per Hajj Management Portal, until Thursday (July 09, 2026), a total of 1,397 people have completed pre-registration for performing Hajj -2027 under government management and 26,463 under private management.
