President asks UGC to improve varsity edn

President Abdul Hamid urged the University Grants Commission (UGC) on Thursday to play its due role in ensuring the quality of education in the country's universities, reports UNB.
The President made the directive when a delegation, led by UGC
chairman Prof AK Azad Chowdhury, submitted its annual report 2013 to him at Bangabhaban, President's press secretary Ihsanul Karim said after the meeting.
During the meeting, the UGC chairman apprised Abdul Hamid that there are currently 37 public and 80 private universities in the country having 2.6 million students.
The delegation apprised the President of some of problems the UGC is now facing.
