President for ensuring ICT-based education

President Md Abdul Hamid on Sunday underscored the need for putting in constant efforts by all concerned to elevate the quality of the country's higher education to international level, report agencies.
Stressing the need for ensuring science and information technology-based education for turning the younger generation into a skilled human resource, the President said the country needs skilled human resource to exploit its vast potential for development and progress.
"A science and information technology-based education could turn the younger generation into an efficient and skilled human resource to exploit the vast potential of Bangladesh . . . I hope that the public and private universities would play a role in producing skilled human resources through utilising the existing facilities," the President said while speaking at the 2nd convocation of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) in the city.
"There're over 100 institutions-both public and private ones-of higher studies in the country now. The area of higher education has expanded with a rise in the number of universities. But we have to put in continuous efforts to elevate the quality of higher education to international level," he said.
A total of 416 graduates received certificates at the function with nine of them winning gold medals for their outstanding results.
