President for expanding need-based ICT education for poor students

President Zillur Rahman stressed on expanding need-based education in the country's government colleges with a view to facilitating the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) education for the poor students across the country, reports UNB.
"It's necessary to expand the ICT-based education for the students studying in various colleges across the country."
The President said this when a four-member delegation of the National University met him at Bangabhaban Tuesday.
Vice-chancellor of the National University Prof Dr Qazi Shahidullah led the delegation.
During the meeting, the team informed the President that they would expand the ICT programmes in all colleges in the country by incorporating the ICT courses in the educational curriculum under the National University.
The delegation said that the National University (NU) has already taken the initiative to re-open the Muktijuddho, Bangabandhu and Bangladesh Research Institute at Kushali village under Tungipara Upazila of Gopalganj district as per government directive.
They sought co-operation from the President to open six local campuses of the National University in the six divisional headquarters.
The President gave the delegation a patient hearing and assured them of his all-out support for the development of the National University.
Other members of the delegation were NU Pro-vice chancellors Prof Dr Tofael Ahmed Chowdhury and Prof Dr M Abu Sayeed Khan and Treasurer Principal Qazi Farook Ahmed.
