President, PM greet countrymen on Eid-ul-Azha

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina have greeted all including the countrymen on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha to be celebrated tomorrow (Monday), report agencies.

In a message, the President urged all to be inspired with the spirit of sacrifice, taking lessons from the sacrifice made by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).

He said the spirit of sacrifice of Eid-ul-Azha is a unique example of showing respect and love to almighty Allah. The deep obedience and devotion Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) shown to Allah by taking steps to sacrifice his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS) at the directives of Allah is incomparable in the history of the world, he added.

The inner message of Eid-ul-Azha is showing respect, tolerance and love to each other, the President said and urged all to follow the teachings and ideals of Eid-ul-Azha to build a peaceful and amiable society.

"I hope that Eid-ul-Azha would strengthen further the unity, solidarity and brotherhood of the Muslim nation," the President added.

He expressed the hope that Eid-ul-Azha would bring welfare for all.

The PM, in a message, said the unique instance set by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) by sacrificing his dearest thing for the satisfaction of Allah will be imitated and followed forever.

"Through the festival, the capable Muslims ensure equality for all and practice compassion by distributing meat of their sacrificial animals among relatives and neighbours," she added.

The prime minister called upon the country's people to build a happy and prosperous Bangladesh free from discrimination by participating in people-welfare based activities as well as realizing the spirit of Eid-ul-Azha.
