Prof Anwarul Azim passes away

Dr Md Anwarul Azim, former professor of Industrial and Production Engineering (IPE) Department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), died at the BIRDEM hospital in the city Friday.

He joined the Mechanical Department of BUET as lecturer in 1961.

He served as the vice-chancellor of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) for the four-year term since 2004. He was the president of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) from 1996 to 1997. He was also the chairman of Dhaka Centre from 1983 to 1985.

The BUET authorities expressed deep shock at his death and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members, says a press release.
