Prof Matin made JU acting VC

Prof MA Matin, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) and also a Professor of Jahangirnagar University (JU) Statistics Department, was appointed acting Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university.

President Abdul Hamid, also Chancellor of the university, appointed him VC for one month and directed to arrange the VC panel election within this period.

Facing teacher-students' pressure, Prof Anwar Hossain declared his resignation from the JU VC post on January 13 last.

After taking charge Prof Matin said, "I shall try to discharge my duty in a proper way and my first priority would be to complete the VC panel election very soon."

He also sought cooperation from all concerned to uphold the university ordinance 1973.

Having received the news of appointment of the VC, the agitating teachers of JU unlocked the registrar building after 63 days.
