Prof Shafiul murder case transferred to DB police

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Jan 22: Investigation into the murder case of Prof Shafiul Alam Lilon, a teacher of the sociology department at Rajshahi University (RU), has been transferred to the  Detective Branch (DB) of  metropolitan police.

Earlier on January 19, Md Shamsuddin, commissioner of Rajshahi

Metropolitan Police (RMP), ordered the Motihar police station to hand over

the papers of the case to the DB police.

Mr Shamsuddin told the reporters that significant progress had been made in the investigation into the murder case. To ensure more progress, the case

has been transferred to the DB police. After reinvestigation, charge sheet will be given very soon, he said.

Alamgir Hossain, officer- in -charge (OC) of Motihar thana and also

investigation officer (OC) of the case, said that the relevant papers of the case would be sent to the DB police soon.

 Prof Lilon was hacked to death by some unknown assailants near his

house in the Choddopai area adjacent to the RU campus on November 15 last year.
