\\\'Proper microcredit management for empowerment of women stressed\\\'

RANGPUR, Dec 12 (BSS) : Proper management in microcredit and savings activities of small-scale community based organisations (CBOs) could accelerate uplift to alleviate poverty bringing self- reliance to rural women for their empowerment.
Speakers said this at the concluding ceremony of a three-day training course on 'Savings and Credit Management' organised by Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP) of World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) at Madila Sub-centre under Fulbari upazila of Dinajpur on Thursday afternoon. Fulabri Upazila Cooperative Office extended necessary assistance in arranging the course from December 9 to 11 and participated by 25 female leaders of Betdighee Mohona Mohila Samobai Samity Limited under Betdighee union of the upazila.
Fulbari Upazila Cooperative Officer Mohammad Abdul Rouf attended the concluding ceremony as the chief guest with Programme Officer of Fulabri ADP of WVB Badal Sangma in the chair.
Fulbari Upazila Cooperative Officer Mohammad Abdur Rouf and Madilahat Branch Manager of non-governmental development organisation 'Podokhkhep' facilitated the training course as the Trainers.
The trainers provided training to the participants on fundamental concepts of cooperative, account keeping, maintenance of documents, difference between shares and savings, cooperative checklist and financial report, savings guidelines, loan guidelines, budget preparation, audit and other related issues.The participants took part in the training course actively and expressed full satisfactions for acquiring necessary knowledge and expertise to run financial and microcredit activities in their organisations better in future.
The speakers stressed enhancing capacities of CBO leaders, small and marginal farmers and entrepreneurs to ensure proper financial managements in freeing the nation from poverty and hunger through achieving self- reliance by the poor rural women.
They said proper management with good governance in the small-scale CBOs and cooperative societies could unite the poor to enhance productivities in all rural sectors, including agriculture and enterprises, in the process of building a middle income Bangladesh.
The chief guest stressed effective managements in the grassroots level cooperative societies to accelerate the process of developing human resources as well as women leadership to eradicate poverty through increasing productions and creating jobs.
