JESSORE, Nov 25 (BSS): President Abdul Hamid asked Tuesday members of the Armed Forces, especially the signal corps, to work with dedication and sincerity to protect national security and sovereignty through continued development of their professionalism and skills.

"I firmly believe that members of the Armed Forces will be able to successfully discharge duties and responsibilities bestowed upon them," the President said while addressing the 5th corps reunion and march-past at the Shaheed Captain Abdul Hamid Parade Ground here.

The President inspected the march-past of signal corps and took salute. Chief of Army Staff General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan and high officials of Bangladesh Army were present.

Abdul Hamid said the present government has taken long-term and multidimensional programmes to turn the Armed Forces into a modern and efficient force.

He recalled the contribution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to building strong Armed Forces immediately after the independence and said Bangabandhu initiated various steps in this regard despite economic limitation of the war-ravaged country.

He said a move is underway to finalise the 'Forces Goal 2030' and implement it in phases in line with the government's 'Vision 2021'.
