PWD engr faces ACC probe

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched a probe into an allegation against an executive engineer of Public Works Department (PWD) that he embezzled about Tk 70 million from the department, reports UNB

The commission at its recent meeting decided to initiate a probe into the graft allegation, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told the news agency on Wednesday.

Allegations have that Utpal Kumar Dey in collusion with other PWD officials misappropriated the money.

FE Report adds: The ACC has decided to investigate an allegation against Housing and Public Works Ministry Joint Secretary (Jt Secy) Md Kamal Uddin Talukdar about misappropriation of government khas land by using his official position.

The ACC took the decision at its regular meeting on Wednesday, a source in the ACC confirmed The Financial Express.  

The officials said according to the allegation, Md Kamal Uddin Talukdar has appropriated khas and abandoned lands by using his power in the Housing and Public Works Ministry in connivance with some other people.

The ACC will appoint an investigation officer to probe the matter.
