Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two persons on early Thursday for their alleged involvement in the gang-rape of a woman at block No A of Mir Mosharaf Hossain Hall of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on February 3.
The arrestees were identified Md Mamunur Rashid alias Mamun (44) who allegedly masterminded the rape incident and his accomplice Md Murad (22).
RAB Director (Legal and Media) commander Khandakar Al Moin disclosed the development to the media at a press briefing at the elite force's media centre at Karwan Bazar in the capital.
A team of RAB arrested Mamun from Farmgate area in the city while another team of the elite force arrested Md Murad from Noagaon district town on early Thursday.
The RAB official said that Mamun used to sell Yaba tables on the JU campus after purchasing the same from Cox's Bazar.
Earlier the victim's husband filed a case with Ashulia Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. The woman was gang-raped after confining her husband to a room.
