JOYPURHAT, Sept 13 (UNB): RAB members, in separate drives, arrested four people along with 115 bottles of Phensidyl syrup and huge Indian cloths from the district Tuesday and Wednesday.
Acting on a tip off, RAB men challenged a Dhaka-bound truck loaded with huge amount of Indian cloths in the border area Tuesday. Sensing danger, the smugglers fled the scene leaving behind the truck at Digholkanda on Joypurhat-Bogra highway.
The elite force later recovered 2,497 pieces of three-piece, 4,984-metre cloth and 294 pieces of saris worth Tk 5.98 million from the truck.
In another drive, RAB personnel arrested two drug peddlers along with 100 bottles of Phensidyl syrup from a house at Mansapur village in Hakimpur Upazila Wednesday.
