The capital city and different parts of the country received light to moderate rain on Monday, which brought a relief from the scorching heat.
The Met office recorded 7.0 mm of rain in Dhaka.
With the rain, the mercury dropped considerably. The maximum temperature recorded in Dhaka was 32.2 degrees Celsius until 6:00pm on Monday, compared with 35.7 degrees recorded the previous day.
The rate of humidity also declined to 71 per cent on Monday as against 77 per cent on Sunday.
The country's highest rainfall of 70 mm was recorded in Khepupara until 6:00pm on Monday.
The country's highest temperature of 34.4 degrees Celsius was recorded at Nikli in Dhaka Division and the lowest temperature of 24 degrees at Tetulia on Monday.
The Met office forecast that light to moderate rain/thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet, Dhaka, Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions while moderately heavy to heavy falls at other places over the country today (Tuesday).
The sun sets in Dhaka at 05:54pm today (Tuesday) and will rise at 05:48am tomorrow (Wednesday).
