Five more projects get merit awards

Rajuk Uttara Model College emerged the champion at the prestigious 'Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Award -2018' in the senior student category for its project titled 'Feed'em'.
Besides, five more Bangladeshi participants achieved Merit Awards un different categories at the award ceremony held in Guangzhou, China, recently, said a press release issued by the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) on Sunday.
The merit award winners are Sindabad.com Ltd's project 'Sindabad.com' in the start-up category; a2i and SoftBD Ltd's joint project 'Eksheba' in the inclusion and community services category; St Joseph Higher Secondary School's 'Sobjanta' in the senior student category; ACI Agribusiness's 'Fosholi' in the industrial (agricultural) category; and Zantrik Ltd's 'Zantrik 911' in the industrial (transport) category.
Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, China, China's Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam presented a total of 266 projects at the APICTA Award.
Bangladesh participated in the APICTA Award for the second time this year with 29 projects developed by 28 companies and institutions.
The participants for APICTA award were selected from the winners of 'BASIS National ICT Awards 2018' held last month.
In APICTA Award-2017 organised in Bangladesh, local participants bagged the champion's award and 14 merit awards.
This year, 81 delegates from Bangladesh participated in the global event that took place from October 09-13.
BASIS president Syed Almas Kabir led the Bangladesh delegation to the APICTA Award. The delegation members included senior vice-president of BASIS Farhana A Rahman, Bangladesh coordinator in APICTA Mostafizur Rahaman Sohel, ICT Division joint secretary Ehsanul Parvez and deputy secretary Md Mehedi Hassan.
