Rana Plaza victim \\\'raped\\\'

A victim of last year's 'Rana Plaza' collapse has been raped allegedly by an old man at Savar Upazila in the outskirts of Dhaka city. She was admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Sunday morning for medical examination. Police arrested alleged rapist, Shahabuddin, 56, based on the victim's allegation. Shahabuddin called the girl over phone on June 5 and said that 'Rana Plaza' victims would be provided financial assistance, Savar Model Police Station OC Mostafa Kamal said. Shahabuddin took her to his place and raped her after illegally confining her. The girl worked at a readymade garment (RMG) unit on the 6th floor of 'Rana Plaza', a nine-storey building that housed five RMG factories before it collapsed at Savar town on April 24, 2013, killing more that 1100 people, mostly female garment workers, wounding 2000 others, according to bdnews24.com.
