RAJSHAHI, Oct 18 (BSS): Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) is planning to set up modern and hygienic slaughterhouse in the metropolis aimed at improving its environmental condition.
The existing trend of slaughtering animals here and there could be prevented through setting up the slaughter house in different parts of the city.
The city corporation authority revealed this at a meeting held at the city bhaban here today where various issues like possible sites, construction works method and operational process were discussed elaborately.
Mayor Mosaddeque Hossain Bulbul addressed the meeting. Chief Engineer Ashraful Haque, Chief Conservancy Officer Sheikh Mamun, Executive Engineers Reazat Hossain and Nur Islam Tusser, Veterinary Surgeon Dr Farhad Uddin and Bengal Meat Engineer Mahmud Al Mamun were present at the meeting.
RCC Mayor Bulbul said this is the high time to improve environment adding he said all sorts of environment pollution related issues will be addressed in phases.
He underlined the need for adopting more need-oriented projects for environmental development in the city. He listed various projects which are being implemented in the city and said some of the projects have started becoming visible among the city dwellers.
"We are committed to make the city habitable through undertaking need-based projects to earn the trust of the city dwellers," Bulbul asserted.
The city corporation is promoting environmental health services like solid waste, medical waste, food and water safety and municipal financial reform through public private partnership and citizens' participation.
