Reconstruction of Mia Sahib Maidan Mosque complete, reopens today

The new three-storey Mia Sahiber Maidan Shah Sahib Bari Jame Masjid located at 56-57, Mia Sahiber Maidan Avenue, Luxmi Bazar, will be opened for prayers today after Esha prayers as the necessary renovation work and reconstruction have been completed after 186 years.
Dhaka City Mayor Sadeq Hossain Khoka is expected to reopen the mosque through a ceremony on the mosque premises at 7.30pm. Commissioners of different wards, elite of the society, devotees of Mia Sahiber Maidan Khanka Sharif and local people will attend the function to be organised on the holy night of Lailatul Barat.
Present pir of the khanka Alhaj Hazrat Shah Sufi Syed Hamidullah (RA) will be present on the occasion and conduct the munajat.
The third renovation work and reconstruction of the five-storey building was inaugurated by the city mayor last year which was done by the present pir of the khanka Alhaj Hazrat Shah Sufi Syed Hamidullah (RA).
The mosque was founded in 1709 (1120 Hizri) by Alhaj Hazrat Maulana Shah Sufi Syed Abdur Rahim Shaheed (RA) on a piece of land donated by Syeda Lutfunnessa, Syeda Asmatunnessa and Alhaj Hazrat Shah Sufi Syed Hamidullah (RA). Then it was made a pucca building by Hazrat Maulana Shah Sufi Badiuddin (RA) between 1240 and 1241 Hizri.
The mosque was then renovated by Hazrat Maulana Shah Sufi Syed Abu Yusuf Abdullah (RA) in 1327 Hizri.
