Refusal to immoral act led to Jubayer killing

O level student Jubayer Ahmed was killed as he had refused to establish a homosexual relationship with an Algerian citizen, said detectives on Sunday, reports UNB.
Police recovered the floating body of Jubayer Ahmed, 17, from a pond near a playground at Uttara Sector-4 at about 12 noon on October 5.

Metropolitan Police (North) Sheikh Nazmul Alam said Algerian national Abu Obayed Qader, 47, has been living in Bangladesh illegally for the last 10 years. He used to coach teenage boys on football in Uttara area.
A team of Uttara East Police Station arrested Qader from the area on October 5 suspecting his involvement in the killing. Following his statement, the detectives arrested another suspect, Ismail, 17, from Uttara area on October 10.
Both Qader and Ismail were being interrogated in DB custody as the murder case has been transferred to the DB police.
While teaching juveniles about various football techniques, Qader who is not straight, used to make homosexual relations with them, the DB DC said.
During interrogation, he said, Ismail revealed that Qader drowned Jubayer in the pond.
Ismail along with several other teenagers, including Jubayer, played a football match at the Uttara playground on October 4 afternoon, he said, adding that after the match, Jubayer went to the nearby pond to take bath.
Qader also followed Jubayer to the pond, Nazmul quoting the arrested teenager as saying.
At one stage, Qader tried to sexually assault Jubayer in the pond. As the teenager protested the immoral act, the Algerian national drowned him, the DB official said, adding that Ismail witnessed the incident.
