A Dhaka Court on Thursday framed charges against Regent Group Chairman Mohammad Shahed in an arms case filed with Uttara West Police Station.
Judge of the Special Tribunal-1 of Dhaka, KM Emrul Kayesh, passed the order after rejecting a discharge petition filed by Shahed's lawyer.
The judge read out the charges to Shahed in the court, but he pleaded that he was not guilty and demanded justice.
Then the tribunal fixed September 10 to start trial of the case.
Earlier in the morning, he was brought to the court from jail as the date was fixed for framing the charges in the case.
About two dozen cases have been filed against Shahed on various charges since his arrest on July 15 this year. Among them, this arms case is the first in which he has been indicted.
