Remove hurdles to girls\\\' edn

Agriculture Minister Motia Chowdhury laid Wednesday emphasis on removal of all impediments, including superstition, to girls' education to establish gender equality in the society.
She said the people, who still were saying there was no need for girls' education beyond class four, were not few in number in the society.
The minister was speaking at an award giving ceremony arranged to honour some outstanding self-reliant women as chief guest. Organised by Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), the ceremony was presided over by Chief Engineer of LGED Md Wahidur Rahman.
Senior Secretary of the Local Government Division Monzur Hossain attended the ceremony as special guest and Mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation Begum Selina Hayat Ivy as guest of honour. Additional Chief Engineer (Implementation) and President of LGED Gender & Development Forum Md. Abul Kalam Azad and other senior engineers and project directors of LGED were also present.
