Rich people urged to help poor to get healthcare service

The Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Mohammad Nasim Saturday urged the affluent in the society to come forward along with the government to reach healthcare facilities to the poor people, reports BSS.

"Well-off people of the society should come forward to facilitate the government to reach healthcare facilities at the door step of the poor people...  as it is not only the duty of the government," he said.

The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion to mark the World Population Day at Osmani Memorial auditorium in the city.

The ministry has taken elaborate programme to observe the day with the theme "Vulnerable Population in Emergencies".

Secretary of the Ministry Syed Monjurul Islam presided over the dissuasion while State Minister Zahid Malik and Director General of the Directorate of Family Planning Nur Hossain Talukder were present, among others.

Nasim said, "Imams of mosques can play a vital role to discourage people to take more children and prevent abusing of women." Nasim, also the Presidium member of Awami Leageue said, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Bangladesh has become a lower-middle income country."
