Road crash leaves driver dead, two Nepalese students injured

DINAJPUR, Sep 02 (UNB): An autorickshaw driver died and two Nepalese students of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University in Dinajpur sustained injuries as a speeding truck rammed into the autorickshaw nearby the university on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased Ikramul, 40, was son of Nizam Uddin of Ramnagar area in the district headquarters.

The injured Nepalese students Makbul Hossain, 25, and Trafing Kachhi, 22, are pursuing higher education in Agriculture at the university.

Locals and witnesses said the accident happened at around 02:00 pm when the truck ran over the autorickshaw carrying the students, who were returning to the campus from the district headquarters, in front of Friends Auto Rice Mill by the campus, leaving the driver dead on the spot.

The injured were rushed to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital in Dinajpur where they are receiving treatment, said Kotwali Police Station's Inspector (Investigation) Golam Mawla.
