Road crashes claim five lives in two districts

An ENA Paribahan bus plunged into a roadside beel at Boisamura on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Sarail Upazila of Brahmanbaria killing three members of a family and injuring 20 others — Focus Bangla

Five people, including three members of a family, were killed and 20 others injured on Wednesday in separate road accidents in Narsingdi and Brahmanbaria districts, reports UNB.

In Brahmanbaria, three members of a family were killed when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Boisamura on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Sarail upazila around 1:30 pm.

The deceased were identified as Sabina Nur, 32, her mother, Robina Nur, 50, her seven month old child Yasin.

In-charge of Khatihata Highway Police Md Hossain Sarkar said the driver of the Sylhet-bound bus lost control over the steering and plunged into a ditch, killing the trio and injuring 20 others.

Two units of Brahmanbaria Fire Service and one from Madhabpur rescued the injured people and sent them to Sadar Hospital, he said.

In Narsingdi, two people were killed as a bus hit a motorcycle on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in the Baraitala area of Shibpur upazila in the district.

The deceased were identified as Mehedi, 22, son of Alauddin of Khalispur village in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur and Noman, 24, son of Kafil Uddin of the same village.

Officer-in-charge of Shibpur Highway Police Hafizur Rahman said the Sylhet-bound bus of 'Ena Paribahan' hit the motorcycle around 10.00 am, killing Mehedi on the spot and injuring another.

Noman died when he was taken to the Narsingdi Hospital, he said.

Police seized the bus from Bhairab but its driver managed to flee.
