At least 46 people were killed and many more injured in road accidents across the country in four days beginning from Monday, reports UNB.
Of them, eight were killed on Monday while 22 Tuesday, the Eid day, nine Wednesday and seven people died Thursday.
On Thursday, the seven people were killed in road accidents in Comilla, Munshiganj and Kushtia districts Thursday.
Of them, five were killed in two accidents in Comilla while one each died in Munshiganj and Kushtia.
In Comilla, a police sergeant along with his wife and son was killed when their private car crashed into the railing of a bridge on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Batisha in Chauddagram Upazila in the morning.
The deceased were identified as Nazrul Islam, 52, a sergeant of Brahmanbaria District Police, his wife Lovely, 35, and their minor daughter Nuzhat, 3.
Meanwhile, two other sons and a daughter of the couple escaped the accident unhurt.
In another accident in Daudkandi upazila of the district, two people were killed and 30 others injured in a collision between two buses at Bhitpur in the afternoon.
In Munshiganj, a motorcyclist was killed and his two co-riders were injured as a pick-up crashed into their bike near Katakhali Bazar in Sadar upazila at noon.
In Kushtia, a bus helper was killed when his vehicle crashed into a motorcycle in the Bittipara Bazar area on the Kushtia-Jhenidah highway in Sadar upazila in the afternoon.
On Wednesday, nine people were killed in separate road accidents in Sylhet, Sirajganj and Thakurgaon districts.
In Sylhet, four people, including a woman and her granddaughter, were killed as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Atirbari in Dakkhin Surma upazila in the early hours.
In Sirajganj, three people were killed and 11 others injured in two road accidents in the district.
In another accident, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided with a Nasimon (battery-driven human hauler) on Bogra-Nagarbari road in the Koira Bazar area of Ullapara upazila, leaving Siddique dead on the spot and six people injured.
In Thakurgaon, two people were killed and 29 others injured in a road accident at Comillahari on the Thakurgaon-Dhaka highway in the early hours of Wednesday.
On Tuesday, at least 22 people were killed and many more injured in separate road accidents in Noakhali, Narayanganj, Bhola, Chittagong, Faridpur and Magura districts.
In Noakhali, seven people, including three members of a family, were killed and 30 others injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch on Sonaimuri-Chatkhil road in Jayag Bazar area of Sonaimuri upazila in the early hours.
In Narayanganj, four people were killed as a private car went down a ditch on Dhaka-Narayanganj link road at Jalkuri in Siddhirganj upazila in the early hours of Tuesday.
In Bhola, three people were killed and 30 others injured as a bus crashed into a roadside tree in Kortarhat Bazar area of Lalmohan upazila on Tuesday morning.
In Chittagong, two motorcyclists were killed as a bus crashed into their bike at Shitalpur in Sitakunda upazila in the afternoon.
In Faridpur, five people were killed in two accidents in Bhanga upazila.
Four occupants of a microbus were killed as the vehicle fell into a roadside ditch at Chumukdia on Dhaka-Barisal highway around 12:30pm.
In another accident, an unidentified man was killed at Maligram around 10am.
In Magura, a man was killed in a road accident in Sadar upazila on Tuesday night.
In Habiganj, two people were killed and two others injured when a covered van hit a human hauler on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Nasaratpur in Sadar upazila.
In Mymensingh, three people were killed and 25 others injured in three road accidents in the district.
In another accident, a pedestrian was run over by a bus at Shambhuganj bridge intersection in the town around 4am.
Besides, a woman was killed and 15 others were injured in a head-on collision between two buses on Mymensingh-Kishoreganj road at Kapalipara in Nandail upazila.
In Munshiganj, two people were killed when a bus knocked them down as they fell from a pick-up on the road on Dhaka-Mawa highway at Shashampur in Srinagar upazila.
In Moulvibazar, a man was killed and five people were injured when a bus hit a human hauler at Brahmanbazar in Kulaura upazila in the morning.
