Eight persons were killed in separate road accidents in Lakshmipur, Chattogram, Bagerhat and Dinajpur, on Friday, report agencies.
In Lakshmipur, two businessmen riding on a motorbike were killed as a speeding truck ran over them in Ramgati upazila of Lakshmipur on Friday evening.
The dead are Arif Hossain (18), son of Kabir Hossain and Mohammad Momim (30), son of Mohammad Selim of Chargosai village under the upazila.
They were butchers by profession at local Syed Moulvibazar.
Police and locals said the accident happened around 5:00 pm when the truck crashed into the motorbike from behind in Ram Doyal Bazar Mor, leaving the two dead on the spot.
Mohammad Solaiman, officer-in-charge of Ramgati thana, said the bodies were sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy after recovery from the spot.
In Chattogram, a 35-year-old man was killed and 15 others injured after a passenger bus overturned at the entrance of the recently opened Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel in Patenga end of the port city of Chattogram on Friday, said police.
The dead, Abul Hossain, was son of Abul Kashem of Konakhali area under Chakaria upazila of Cox's Bazar.
In Bagerhat, a motorcyclist and his pillion rider were killed and three others injured in a collision between a motorbike and a private car on Khulna-Mongla Highway in Rampal upazila of Khulna on Friday.
The dead are motorcyclist Razzak (33) of Bagerhat's Fakirhat upazila and rider Md Harun-Or-Rashid (35) of Rajshahi's Baghmara upazila.
In Dinajpur, three people died in two separate accidents in Dinajpur on Friday.
Among the deceased, two people, including the driver of a covered van, were killed when a pick-up van hit their vehicle at Phulbari upazila in Dinajpur.
The dead are Nayeb Ali (45) and Shafiul Zaman (28) of Thakurgaon.
Rezaul Karim, sub-inspector of Phulbari thana, said a Dhaka-bound pick-up van hit the back of the covered van at Dangapara near the headquarters of BGB's 29 battalion in Phulbari upazila on Gobindaganj regional highway in Dinajpur around 3:00 am on Friday.
