RAJSHAHI, Jan 29: The closing ceremony of the 5th International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Telecommunication Engineering (ICECTE 2026) will be organised at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) today (Saturday) after it started on Thursday. The Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) formally inaugurated the three-day-long conference at RUET's central auditorium on Friday.
In addition to Bangladesh, researchers, teachers and students from 15 countries, including the US, the UK, Russia, Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, Germany and Malaysia, are participating in the conference.
The event has been organised with the aim of opening new horizons of research and innovation to address the rapidly-changing technological challenges of the modern world. A total of 995 research papers were submitted for presentation at the conference. Of these, 335 papers were selected after intensive review, and 286 papers would be presented live.
Highlighting the special features of the conference, ECE Faculty Dean and Professor Dr Bashir Ahmed, who chaired the conference, said emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), cyber security, robotics, internet of things (IoT) and nanotechnology would be discussed along with special technical workshops for students.
RUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr S M Abdur Razzak attended as the chief guest at the opening ceremony on Friday and he is set to participate at the closing ceremony today also as the chief guest.
The conference is technically supported by the IEEE Bangladesh Section. In addition, the ICT Division, University Grants Commission, Bangladesh Computer Council and several other government and autonomous organisations are its sponsors.
