Running train crushes youth in city

An unidentified youth died as a speeding train hit him in the capital's Jurain area on Saturday.

A Narayanganj-bound train hit the man in Jurain rail gate area under Shyampur around 5:00pm while he was crossing the railway track.

The identity of the victim, who was in his twenties, could not be ascertained immediately.

The victim was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment, DMCH police outpost in-charge Sub-inspector Bachchu Mia said.

Locals brought him to the DMCH. The on-duty doctor there declared him dead at 6:30pm, he added.

The body was kept at the DMCH morgue for an autopsy until filing of this report at 7:30pm.
