RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Dec 10: Teachers of the Rajshahi University (RU) called a two- hour work abstention programme on campus under the banner of RU Teachers' Assocition (RUTA) on December 13 demanding arrest and exemplary punishment to the killers of Prof AKM Shafiul Islam Lilon, a teacher of the sociology department.
RUTA general secretary Dr Pranab Kumar Pande announced the programme at a press briefing Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Pande said, "Our colleague Prof Shafiul was killed about 25 days ago, but the law enforcers could not identify the killers yet. Even police have not said anything about the persons who are already arrested."
So, RUTA will observe a two-hour work abstention from 10 am to 12 pm on December 13 protesting the killing and demanding punishment to the killers of Prof Shafiul killing, Dr. Pande said.
All activities of the university except pre-scheduled examinations of different departments will remain closed during the work abstention programme.
RU teachers will go for tougher movement in future if progress in the Prof Shafiul murder case is not made, Dr. Pande warned.
