Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Kendra (BNSK) has condoled the death of journalist Sabia Siddique in a road accident and demanded actions against the driver responsible for the accident to stop this kind of unnatural death in the future.
At a condolence meeting held at the National Press Club Wednesday, BNSK leaders said the number of casualties in road accidents has been increasing due to lack of actions against the perpetrators.
Throwing questions to the government as to why the killers of the accidents should not be brought under trial, they also demanded stoppage of political influence in taking action against the drivers responsible for road accidents.
Sabia Siddique was crushed under the wheel of a covered van near Rampura Bridge Friday evening.
BNSK General Secretary Parveen Sultana Jhuma expressed shock at the death of Sabia in the tragic accident and said unruly drivers continue to violate traffic rules and kill people taking advantage of poor enforcement of the law.
