Sangskrit teachers get Tk 150 each per month as salary!

BARISAL, Jan 17 (UNB): Teachers of Sangskrit-Pali language teaching institutes, familiar as Toll, receive only Tk 150 per head per month as 'salary'.
Sources said that some 375 teachers are engaged in 125 Tolls of the country including 12 teachers in 4 Tolls in Barisal district under Bangladesh Sangskrit and Pali Education Board.
Kamini Sundari Sangskrit College of Barisal city, Sree Sree Radha Gobinda Sangskrit College and Bidyasagar Sangskrit College of Wazirpur, Bakai Sangskrit College of Gournadi in the district have more than 400 students.
Satyajit Roy, principal of Wazirpur Sree Sree Radha-Gobinda Sangskrit College said that students after passing the SSC examination could be admitted to these institutes in three years' diploma course.
"Per head Tk 150 as salary for the teachers could not be uttered publicly and we applied to the concerned authorities several times to increase the amount but to no effect," he said. Dr Kamalini Joydhar, head of Sanskrit and Pali department of Barisal BM College, said services of Sangskrit and Pali Institute teachers should be evaluated properly as they are engaged in imparting knowledge.
