Advocate Pavel Miah, a lawyer of Dhaka Judges Court filed Tuesday a writ with Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) seeking its direction upon Anti-corruption Commi-ssion (ACC) to investigate whether there was any corruption in importing wheat from Brazil, reports UNB.
The writ also sought SC directive upon the director general of the Directorate General of Food to examine the wheat at a neutral laboratory.
Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, Supreme Court Chamber Judge, set July 21 for holding hearing on the matter. Barrister AM Mahbubuddin Khokon filed the writ for the petitioner. The SC on July 9 stayed a ruling of the High Court that asked not to force anyone to take the wheat imported from Brazil, until July 26 and sent the matter to a full-bench of Appellate Division for further hearing.
