The Supreme Court (SC) Thursday exempted the Prothom Alo editor, its former publisher and two reporters and the Bhorer Kagoj publisher from the contempt of court charge for publishing reports that then additional High Court (HC) judge Faisal Mahmud Faizee 'tampered' with his Chittagong University law examination results, reports UNB.

The apex court, however, turned down the appeal filed by former Bhorer Kagoj editor Abed Khan and its reporter Samaresh Baidya against the HC order although it scrapped the two months' rigorous imprisonment handed down to Baidya and commuted fine Tk 2,000 to Tk 1,000.
