Real estate developer Sheltech (pvt) Limited and Seraj Foundation Saturday jointly donated 2000 copies of science books of class six for distribution among the disadvantaged children.
A book launching ceremony was organised at Sheltech Lounge at Panthapath in the city.
Former advisers to the caretaker government Prof Jamilur Reza Choudhury and Rasheda K Chowdhury, scientist Prof Mohammad Zafar Iqbal, Prof Sayed Monzurul Islam and Prof Zeba Islam Seraj unveiled the book titled 'Bigganer Mojar Pathshala.'
Sheltech Managing Director Toufiq M Seraj delivered the introductory speech while the company chairman Engr Kutub Uddin Ahmed gave the vote of thanks at the launching ceremony.
Speakers said many deprived children in Bangladesh can not study in renowned schools or are unable to learn from private tutors. They do not get opportunity to study interesting national and international books. As a result, they fear to study science due to lack of proper study materials.
The book has been published to make science easier and interesting for the children, the organisers said. The science book of class six has been made child friendly incorporating illustrations and experiments. Initially, 2000 copies of this book have been published to grow interest on science among disadvantaged children, they added.
