RANGAMATI, Jan 10 (UNB): Local administration Saturday imposed Section 144 in the district town for an indefinite period prohibiting mass gathering following a clash between Paharhi Chhatra Parishad (PCP) and ruling party activists at Hapiar Morh in the district town.

At least 15 people were injured in a clash between supporters of Parbatya Chhatragram Janasanghati Samity (PCJSS-Santu Larma)-backed Paharhi Chhatra Parishad (PCP) and  ruling party men over the inauguration of the academic activities of Rangamati Medical College Saturday morning, witnesses said.

Earlier, PCP called a blockade programme protesting the inauguration of Rangamati Medical College.

PCJSS demanded implementation of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) peace accord before starting the activities of the medical college.

When some Awami Jubo League (AJL) and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists brought out a procession from Hapiar Morh in the town for going to the medical college premises some PCP activists chased them, triggering a clash around 9.00 am.
